Project Profile
Joe Heckemeyer, a diversified family farmer from Southeast Missouri,
planted 430 acres of Delta Loblolly pine and 170 acres of mixed
hardwoods on former cropland through the USDA’s Conservation
Reserve Program in 1990. He recently signed a contract to broker
his carbon sequestration credits through Dogwood Carbon Solutions.
Based on the age, species, and region of the trees Joe will earn
an additional $30 an acre for pines and $15 an acre for hardwoods
per year at the current price of carbon.
